In 2018 The metal factory in Fumel closed its doors for the last time. The factory which made metal tubes also houses the “Machine de Watt” classified by UNESCO in 2009. The factory had been in continuous use since 1847 and in the 70’s employed over 3600 people.
Myself and other members of the Fumel photo club were lucky to be able to photograph the last pouring of metal in the foundry and the last of the huge metal tubes being prepared. Our photos were exhibited in the Fumel Photo Festival 2019.
These photos are some of my contributions. I also curated the exhibition and designed the accompanying book that goes with it.
